The Du Lacs

A little something for Valentine's Day, and for my friend 's amusement. I love both of our fictional creations (okay, so I have borrowed Sir Lancelot from literary tradition, but I've definitely made him my own, I think). Alanna's is all Jadeling's--but don't confuse her first name with another literary leading lady who wants to be a knight.

Anyway, I just wanted to show the two reincarnations we've put our lovers into: a 1920s cop and his long-lost-but-now-returned farm girl sweetheart on top, and their original chainmail and scabbard roots on the bottom. Note that it is ambiguous who's sword that is.

I've used this one 1970s reference picture at least three times--because I am just in love with the dude's face!

For this, I used fancy, over-priced gouache. I do admit, the color was more vibrant than the cheap stuff I usually use.
