I have been studying Sir Lancelot for half a year now, and this is one of my numerous projects about him as the brilliant legendary character. His life is dramatic and dynamic, that I thought hed serve for an awesome age sheet.
The Changeling: Lancelot starts his life being stolen away from his mother by the Lady of the Lake. The Page: Being raised by the Lady in the company of fairies, he learns his first knightly skills as a page. The Squire: Enters adolescence, his training becomes more vigorous as he begins to learn combat. The Lakes Champion: Lancelot enters his late teens and performs heroic deeds in service of the Lake, including vanquishing the Lady of the Lakes enemies. Here he transitions from boyhood to knighthood. The Errant Knight: Lancelot roams for two years, then goes to Camelot and joins Arthurs court. He rises to superstar status as a knight, and triumphs in such marvelous adventures: rescuing Guinevere and capturing Joyous Guarde. Also around this time, he fathers Galahad. The Wildman: While he is at the peak of his fame, Lancelot is inflicted with a fugue madness when he is stressed by relations at court. He runs away and becomes a primitive Wildman in the woods for a couple of years The Nobleman: Lancelot is found and cured of his madness. Things are peaceful for a while. Lancelot settles down, Galahad grows up, and then there is the Grail Quest. When he returns from the Quest as a failure, Lancelot is accused of an affair with the Queen. The War Leader: After rescuing Guinevere from the stake, there is a serious of violent conflicts Lancelot engages in: war with Arthur, a blood feud with Gawain, and battling against Mordred when he usurps Arthurs crown. The Hermit: Lancelot retires from combat, joins a monastery and dies peacefully in old age.
I've actually been working on stories that go along the Arthurian tales and have been fighting with timing and such, this is actually pretty helpful! ^_^
lol well I've been working on a few different stories actually, hoping that it might work into something big, but they're following the roundtable right on through. I've dabbled in "the Sword and the Stone" at the beginning of Sir Kay and Andrivete's story, but that one's being a pain and hasn't gotten very far. Guinevere's story has been entertaining because of the conflicting lore around her. I've got another story that's a couple years after the wedding that focuses on the tale of Arthur being abducted by a sorceress, which is kinda focused on the relationships of Arthur, Mordred, Lancelot, and Gawain (Gawain being maybe 12 at the time of the story). The story I've gotten the farthest with has been of Gawain and Florie (a tale that was created after Chauser's tales came out) because I also tie in Sir George the Dragonslayer The final story I've got going follows up on the converged points of Guinevere's story and that whole Lancelot/Guinevere legend--basically the tale of Elyzabel, her cousin, getting caught behind enemy lines as a spy.
... so much for that being short lol There's alot of trickery and battle and such. I've sketched a little for Gawain and Florie, but I'm still working on Gwen/Guinevere's design and Arthur's and Lancelot of course lol
Wow, I see what you mean with keeping the timing all sorted out! It's a challenge to take on large sections of the Arthurian story arc. It's especially hard to keep the ages consistent. In most of the stories I've read, Lancelot is much younger than Arthur and Gawain (and sometimes even Guinevere, hehe). But since it's your story, you can arrange the ages however you want. But I like the sound of all your different plots. Have you posted any of them or your sketches?
lol yeah my brain doesn't like working one-track, which doesn't help me write things, but what can you do? lol I think for my ages Kay's five years older than Arthur who's 5 older than Guinevere, Lancelot's in the middle somewhere. Gawain as Arthur's nephew is about 10 years younger, if I remember correctly... I've typed everything into a list on my home computer, I'll have to find that when I get home today. I haven't posted story yet, but I've put up different sketches that go with Gawain's story: [link][link][link] I've got an idea for Elyzabel, Guinevere's cousin, as I have her coming to live with her and Arthur after they're married as a lady-in-waiting or something. She's from an area of northern Spain and enjoys an adventurous lifestyle lol
How the hell teach you that, half of it is myth. The other has flaws for example the time line of the real arthur, not the feudal stories one, is the fith century far before real knights but just after roman fall and the begin of the dark age.
