Another illustration assignment, to practice our skills in acrylic: paint a landscape, then a portrait on top of it. Here I painted from a photograph of the ruins of the Castle of Dinas Bran in North Wales. The lady is from a website selling medieval-styled wedding gowns. I've turned her into the Grail Maiden, Elaine.
How lovely! Her eyes sparkle and her lips shine...awesome effects, there ^^ And I love her head dress. I'm a little confused about the odd white-ish border around her, though...was that put there for a purpose?
Ah, the border was an impulsive move on my part. First I had painted the whole landscape out to the edges, and then put a white glaze to create a border. And then I added the lady, and decided that I didn't like how she looked when cropped, so I kept her painted to the edge. And yes, the result is not entirely successful. But I'm glad you like her sparkliness!
